Global superstar, singer and actress Beyoncé flies straight to the top of the Albums Chart with new release 4 after her acclaimed performance at last week’s Glastonbury.
4 gives Beyoncé her second solo Albums Chart number one after her solo debut Dangerously In Love (2003) and B’Day (number three in 2006) and I Am Sasha Fierce (number 2 in 2009). All these releases are boosted by the “Glastonbury” effect in this week’s chart with I Am Sasha Fierce powering back in to the Albums Chart Top 40 (this week’s number 38 up from last week’s 127).
Beyoncé also makes her mark on the Singles Chart this week, scoring her tenth solo Top 10 single (including the number ones Crazy In Love (2004) and If I Were A Boy (2008)) with the second single from 4, Best Thing I Never Had, straight in at number three and no less than five other singles in the Top 75.
