Supa Swap The Music Room - supaswap-music.com

The music industry was stunned last night after the news of the death of another of its legends. After the deaths of Whitney Houston and Amy Winehouse, 2012 has claimed another female icon.

Donna Summer, often referred to as the Disco Queen was born in 1948, her real name being la Donna Adrian Gaines. She gained real prominance as a singer, songwriter during the disco era of the 70s and in her time was a five time grammy award winner.

Amongst her big hits were macArthur Park, Love to Love you Baby and of course the massive Hot Stuff.

Donna dies on 17th May after a battle with cancer.

As another great name in the industry leaves us, we in SupaSwap wonder who is replacing these big names in today´s music scene. Our thoughts go out to her friends and family.

I suddenly thought it has been a little a miss of me not to have mentioned at all in my blog about The wanted, especially as they are one of my favorite groups out there at the moment.

This British/Irish boy band is made up of 5 members Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness, Tom Parker and Nathan Sykes. Their debut single “All Time Low” which was released back in 2010 (yes they really have been round that long) reached number one in the UK for one week.

Their second Number one and probably their best know number to date (and my favorite ) is “Glad you Came” and this you can see in the video above.

In the States they have had a top 5 hit, millions of viewers on You Tube and a Glee reinterpretation (seems to be one of the best endorsements you can get at the moment), means that they are certainly not limited to one side of the atlantic.

Glad You Came for me is a thoughtful piece and a great to listen to on the 100th time as on the first.

SupaSwap 9 out of 10. What do you think?

Britney

Shows like the X factor seem to survive on gossip, wild stories, in fighting and rumours. It is hard to think of a single series of these shows that have not sparked some form of intrigue and in the last few days more rumour has emerged about the US version in the form of a new Judge.

The news, which was broken by E! Online is that pop sensation Britney Spears will become a judge for a reported $15 million , that is £9 million in british money.

If true she will be on a panel with Simon Cowell and La Reid.

This is not the first time that a judge has sparked controversy in their appoint meant or in this case sacking from the show and we all remember the issues Cheryl Cole had with the show.

However, those of us at the SupaSwap office, well those of us with a slightly wicked streak wonder what the judges comments might be if Britney was a performer not a judge, especially from the blunt lips of Mr Cowell. So come on readers, lets hear you views, what might he say........

Adele

In the words of my mother, that Adele has a pair of lungs on her, she always had a talent for stating the obvious but her sentiment is very true. I have always been attracted to singers who give the impression that they do not rely on the microphone to make a big sound and I have to say I think Adele would have no trouble filling any room with her voice.

Well Adele has just hot another milestone to add to her amazing career as her latest album, 21, has become the fifth biggest selling album of all time, out selling Michael Jackson´s Thriller.

23 Weeks at Number One

On top of this it has spent 23 weeks at number one and has outsold albums like Pink Floyd´s dark Side of the Moon and Dire Straits´ Brothers in Arms

We at SupaSwap want to say congratulations Adele, well deserved.
